The catalyst may contain inert materials such as porcelain, quartz, or metallic nickel, the inert material being usually present in an amount of from 20-60% by weight. The reaction is usually conducted at a temperature between 200-600‹ C., the reactants being in equimolar ratio. The gas mixture may be diluted with an inert gas such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide. The cyanogen chloride product may be isolated in known manner, e.g. by absorption in organic solvents.</p> |
