<p>Furnace, for reactions in bulk material, e.g. sand, with a feed of fluidising agent e.g. air, for combustion of liq. and solid substances, incorporates a distribution chamber and a large number of tubes. Each tube has a trunk and a head. The trunk is welded perpendicularly in the cover of the distribution chamber, the part extending above the cover being surrounded by the bulk material in the state of rest. The head has horizontal outlet channels for the fluidising agent. The cover of the distribution chamber is arched and forms the base of the furnace and the chamber has supporting struts, or the cover may be arched. The horizontal outlet for fluidising agent give good turbulence because the currents which interact and flow upwards. The particles of the fluidised bed are put into circular and vertical motion. Formation of air pockets does not occur. The high combustion temp. resulting from heat of convention and radiation do not reach the cover of the distribution chamber and damage it. Less expensive materials can be used for construction than in existing appts.</p> |
