The plastic bottle crate has top and bottom frames joined to each other by columns. There is a connecting strip (8) across the crate opening in the lengthwise or transverse direction, joining opposite sides of the top frame (2) together, and joined to the base by one or more internal columns. The strip can be of channel section, open towards the base, and the internal columns can be tubular, or of double-T-section. There can be openings in the base underneath the strip, which can run along the centre line of the crate in the lengthwise direction, with rectangular hollow supports near the end walls and in the middle.
