Antimicrobial composition with a long-term action in the form of a synergistic combination of aldehydes with 1 - 5 C atoms and salts of oligomeric hexamethylene biguanides in a ratio by weight of the two components from 1 : 10 to 100 : 1. It can be used as liquid disinfectant in aqueous or solvent solution, where appropriate in an aerosol pack or in combination with detergents and, where appropriate, builders. The compositions in the form of concentrates, concentrated solutions and even in a dilute form ready for use show very good stability on storage and excellent microbistatic and, in particular, microbicidal activity and pronounced residual action. The compositions are suitable as disinfectants for any desired purpose and as preservative for chemical/industrial products.
