<p>New heterocyclic cpds. of formula (I) are prepd. by nitrating the corresp. mononitro cpds. of formula (II):- In the formulae X and B ar O, S or NR2; Y and A are N or CH; R1 and R2 are lower alkyl. Cpds (I) are antibacterial and antimycotic agents with MIC values of 3-50 mug/ml against various bacteria and 1-5 ug/ml against fungi (e.g. Trichophyton quinckenaneum and Aspergillus fumigatus). In an example, 2-(5-nitro-2-thiazolyl)-4-methyl-5-nitrothiazole is prepd. from 2-(5-nitro-2-thiazolyl)-4-methylthiazole.</p> |
