<p>A wheel set with solid wheels pressed or shrunk on to the axle and braked by shoes or wheel discs. The wheel is shaped so that with temperature of 300 deg.C in the rim practically no distortion takes place, and similarly when cooling occurs. The wheel disc is specially shaped to achieve this and absorb radial forces dued to heating and maintains the seating on the axle. The thickness of the rim diminishes radially towards the exterior. The transition zone from rim to disc is at about 1/20 of the wheel diameter. Each wheel disc has a central flat region.</p> |
