Heat exchanger containing sleeved tube bundles - has inside of tubes and outside of sleeves swept by same fluid

A tube bundle heat exchanger contains a number of exchange elements, each consisting of a cylindrical sleeve and a bundle of straight tubes inside the sleeve; all the sleeves are connected in parallel to form the complete heat exchanger. The straight tubes of teh bundle inside each cylindrical sleeve are fixed in the end tube plate of the sleeve and are thus in open communication with the end chambers of the main heat exchanger. These tubes thus conduct the first fluid; which also flows in the spaces external to the sleeves of the cylindrical elements. The second fluid flows through the inter-tube spaces inside each sleeve element. The spaces between the sleeves, through which the first fluid flows, are occupied by displacement strips throughout their entire length, so that the heat transfer coefficient in these spaces between the sleeves in the same as the heat transfer coefficient inside the straight tubes, which are traversed by the same first fluid. For cooling or heating water, steam, gas and chemical media and in intermediate superheaters of nuclear power plants. The design is simple and compact and thermal strains are mininial.
