The machine produces periodic mechanical movement by means of permanent magnets. It utilises the largely energy-free pole reversal of the permanent magnets for gaining mechanical work from the actual magnetic forces involved. One or more additional, movable, permanent magnets are arranged in the magnetic field of one or more permanent magnets. The movable permanent magnets (16) are impressed with a magnetic force periodically alternating in its direction by periodic electrical pole reversal of the magnetic poles of the stationary and/or of the movable permanent magnets. Electrical windings are arranged on the permanent magnets for electrical pole reversal of the magnetic poles, and the windings have current pulses passed through them in a direction opposing the direction of the magnetic flux.
