The circuit breaker has an earth leakage trip with a sum current transformer and a compensation device for each phase compensating capacitive leakage currents. It is inserted between a phase conductor and the neutral and has at least one compensation capacitor. A compensation winding (16) on the sum current transformer is in series with the compensation capacitors (15). It generates in the current transformer an induction opposite to that generated by capacitive leakage current. Compensation device (15, 16) is connected to the neutral (Mp) at a point (17) on the load side of the sum current transformer.
