The fingering indicator for a guitar or banjo is made up of a plate of metal, wood or plastic which features longitudinal and transverse ribs. The latter represent the frets while the longitudinal ribs represent the strings. The size of the longitudinal ribs decreases from left to the right, while the top transverse rib is double and comprises two narrow ribs. In the case of a guitar, the number of longitudinal ribs is six whereas for a banjo the number is four. The squares between the ribs are used for markings of the finger position. The indicator is carried in a box with a cushion.
|
