The contact pin is designed to be pressed into a plastics strip in connections of circuit boards. The contact pin has a constant diameter with a conically rounded tip. In the region intended for embedding into the material of the plastics strip (2) the contact pin (3) has a knurled part (6) of increased dia. which tapers down in the direction of the pin tip (10). Preferably a rounded portion (8) is provided on the knurled part facing the tip end. The largest dia. of the knurled part may be greater by approximately 10% than the pin diameter, while the knurled part length is twice the pin diameter. The smallest diameter of the knurled part is approximately 103% of the pin diameter.
