1522086 Wound drainage appliances ARBROOK INC 14 April 1976 [17 April 1975] 15269/76 Heading A5R [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] A wound drainage device comprise a container having a side wall 12, a fluid inlet port 30 and an adjacent fluid outlet port 31 in the wall 12, a first valve 35 for opening and closing inlet port 30, a one-way duckbill valve 61 for permitting emptying of fluids from said container via outlet port 31, and a gate 50 secured to rotary valve member 38 of valve 35 whereby the gate is movable between a first position, Fig. 7, effective to open valve 35, and a second position, Fig. 9, effective to close valve 35 and uncover the outlet port 31 to allow emptying of the container. The container comprises a bowl having a side wall 12, the upper edge of which forms an opening over which an elastomeric membrane is secured. An actuator disc is secured to the upper surface of the membrane. Manual pressure on the membrane causes expulsion of fluid through outlet port 31, and the resilience of the membrane reduces the pressure in the container to draw fluid in through inlet port 30. |
