The process is suitable for the removal of chewing-gum remains from pavements, roads, squares, school playgrounds and other areas, where they may be present in considerable quantities. This is achieved by applying a concentrated sprayed jet of water to each particle, at high pressure and high temperature. For this, one or more water sprayers (2, 3) can be mounted on a vehicle (1), with water tank (10), pump (6, 7) and spray gun (16, 17), the water being heated to boiling point by an oil burner (4, 5) electrically driven by a generator (22). There is also a suction appliance (26) to pick up the loosened chewing-gum and convey it to a waste container (32), driven by a diesel motor (23) in the vehicle.
