<p>1488215 Treating solid waste material RECYC SYSTEMS Inc 8 April 1975 14411/75 Heading ClK Solid town garbage is converted into forms having practical utility in a continuous process which comprises discharging the garbage into a separator including a hopper and a plurality of spaced-apart rotating drums having attached thereto a plurality of spikes projecting outwardly from the periphery of the rotating drums, the rotating spikes operating to tear open bags and cartons of the garbage, permitting the garbage to discharge on to a series of vibrating screens of different meshes and thence to a ballistic flinger and thereby separating cans, bottles and the like from other products including paper products, grass, food products and the like, subjecting the other products to grinding and thorough mixing, mixing the ground and mixed products with water to form a slurry and adjusting the solids content of the slurry to about 50%, heating the slurry for a period of 45 minutes to 2 hours to a temperature of 212‹ to 250‹ F. to destroy pathogens and parasites, thereafter removing water from the slurry to increase the solids content to about 70% and then pulverizing the solids content. The products may be used to produce paper pulp, fibre for board production, fibres for roofing felt, fertiliser base, fibres for hydroseeded land reclamation and a cattle feed supplement.</p> |
