1488714 Locks L & F WILLENHALL Ltd 8 Oct 1975 [8 Oct 1974] 43589/74 Heading E2A A lock is protected against destructive drilling or the use of a self-tapping tool by provision of an element 24, preferably U- shaped, on the key-receiving member 14 between the end-face and the tumblers 20. This element is formed from a material harder than the material forming the keyreceiving member, preferably from hardened steel. The element 24 is held in slot 26 so that it cannot move away from the centreline of the key-slot, part of the boundary of which it may form. The use of the element is described in a barrel lock for the steering column of motor vehicles.
