<p>N-(2-Amino-3, 5-dibromobenzyl)-N-methylcyclohexylamine of formula (I), or an acid addn. salt thereof, is prepd. by reacting an ester deriv. of 2-amino-3, 5-dibromobenzyl alcohol of formula (II): (where R1 is the acid residue of an (in)organic acid and (i) R2 and R3 are H or (ii) R2 is H and R3 is acyl or sulphonyl or (iii) R2 and R3 form "CR4R5 where R4 and R5 are each H or opt. substd. alkyl or aryl gps) with N-methylcyclohexylamine to obtain a cpd. of formula (I, where -NR2R3 replaces -NH2), converting this cpd. if necessary to (I), i.e. R2=R3=H, and opt. converting (I) into an acid addn. salt. Cpd. (I) is a known antitussive agent.</p> |
