1488241 Cooling compositions CIBA-GEIGY AG 17 June 1976 [23 June 1975] 25070/76 Heading C3B Water-dilutable coating compositions are prepared by: (a) reacting a polyepoxide (I), M.W. 340-5000, with sufficient active hydrogen compound (II) to react with all the epoxy groups, followed by a second reaction with ethylene oxide to form a product containing 10- 90% of grafted and ungrafted poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and <10% ungrafted PEO; (b) adding aminoplast curing agent (III) at 5-50% by wt. of total solids; and (c) diluting the composition to 10-80% solids to yield a stable aqueous composition having no particles >1 micron. I may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A or F. II may be diethanolamine and II may be a methylated urea-formaldehyde resin or hexamethoxymethylmelamine.
|
