A tool for carrying out the method comprises a piston and cylinder device 2, and a set of interchangeable tapered noses for the piston-rod 7 to vary its effective length to suit different size chills. The tool may have a bracket enabling it to be manoeuvred on one fork of a fork lift vehicle, the chill being manoeuvred on the other fork. The piston is then operated from an hydraulic pressure source 14 on the vehicle through valve 19 and intensifier 15 mounted on the vehicle fork assembly. The tool may be applied in successive locations spaced along the chill to break away successive wall portions if the chill is not of brittle material, and may be rotated through 90 degrees and used again to break away another wall.</p> |
