<p>1445630 Prostaglandins AMERICAN HOME PRODUCTS CORP 18 Oct 1973 [27 Oct 1972 26 July 1973] 03864/76 Divided out of 1445628 Heading C2C Novel compounds I in which A is -CH 2 -CH 2 - and X is or A is cis -CH=CH- and X is are prepared by reacting an appropriate ketone with methyl or ethynyl magnesium bromide, or, when A is -CH 2 -CH 2 and X is by hydrogenating the corresponding compound in which A is -CH = CH- using tris-(triphenylphosphine)-rhodium (I) chloride. 5 - Hydroxy - 2# - (3 - oxo - trans - 1 - octenyl)- 1α- cyclopentane heptanoic acid is prepared by hydrogenating 7 - (5 - hydroxy - 2# - [3- hydroxy - trans - 1 - octenyl] - 1α- cyclopentyl)- cis - 5 - heptanoic acid to give 5 - hydroxy - 2#- [3 - hydroxy - trans - 1 - octenyl] - 1α- cyclopentane heptanoic acid and oxidizing this with 2,3 - dichloro - 5,6 - dicyano - 1,4 - benzoquinone. 5 Hydroxy - 2# - (3 - oxooctyl) - 1α- cyclopentaneheptanoic acid is prepared by hydrogenating 7 - [5 - hydroxy - 2# - (3 - oxo - trans- 1 - octenyl) - 1α- cyclopentyl) - cis - 5 - heptenoic acid. Compounds I are useful as intermediates in the preparation of pharmaceutically active prostaglandins.</p> |
