<p>1438878 1 - Aminobenzene - 5 - # - sulphatoethylsulphone - 2,4 - disulphonic acid and the 5-vinylsulphone HOECHST AG 17 Oct 1974 [17 Oct 1973] 45012/74 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the general Formula I wherein Y represents a group of the formula XO 3 S-O-CH 2 -CH 2 - or CH 2 = CH- and X represents a hydrogen, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal atom. The compounds of Formula I may be prepared by a process wherein 1-aminobenzene-3-#-sulphato ethylsulphone or 1-amino benzene-3-#-hydroxy-ethylsulphone either (a) is dissolved or suspended in anhydrous sulphuric acid (monohydrate) at a temperature of from -15‹ C. to +40‹ C. and subsequently sulphur trioxide, dissolved in anhydrous sulphuric acid is added thereto at a temperature range indicated above, or (b) is introduced into a mixture of sulphuric acid and sulphur trioxide having a sulphur thioxide content of up to 30% by weight and subsequently the resulting mixture is heated to a temperature in the range of from 100‹ to 150‹ C. and wherein the l-aminobenzene- 5-#-sulphato ethylsulphone-2,4-disulphonic acid formed as the salt thereof obtained by reaction with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal compound, if desired, is heated in an aqueous solution at a pH of from 2-5 to 7 to a temperature in the range of from 30‹ to 60‹ C. The sulphuric acid liberated may be neutralized by the addition of an acid binding agent and the 1-amino benzene 5-vinylsulphone-2,4-disulphonic acid then isolated in the form of the alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt.</p> |
