Composite sheet incorporating layers of cotton wool bonded to one or both faces of a supporting mesh or woven fabric coated with adhesive, where the adhesive coating is predried on to the support and then reheated sufficiently to key a dressing of wool fibres. The wool layers and opt. covering films may be applied by a process integrated with or separate from the application and predrying of the adhesive on the supporting materials. The support may be a plastic non-woven mesh weighing 5-10 g/m2. Thermoplastic adhesive is an acrylic latex, the layers being laminated using calendar roills at =130 degrees C. The wool layers dry more rapidly and more uniformly than in processes where the wool is contacted with freshly applied adhesives which are still drying out. The wool surface remains pliant and unmarred.
|
