Polyester-polycarbonate compsns. are prepd. by mixing molten polyester (I) and polycarbonate (II) with addition to the mixt. of a stabiliser (III) which inhibits reaction between (I) and (II). Pref. the polymers are melted together at 150-300 degrees C for 0.1 min. to 4 hrs. before adding (III) which is esp. a P cpd. or a carboxylic acid. New compsns. contain 5-95 pts. (I); 95-5 pts. (II) plus (III), pref. at 0.1-5 wt. % on total polymers. (I) and (II) can be partly copolymerised. They are stable and can be shaped by any standard moulding operation. They have better impact and heat resistances than unmodified (I).
