The electrical connector is designed to ensure that its halves are correctly and securely locked mechanically. An elastic element (29) electrically connects two separate fixed contacts when in one position and leaves them electrically isolated from one another when in a second position. The two contacts and the elastic element constitute one of the contact parts of the connector half that is provided with the locking ring. The elastic element is moved by a device that responds to the motion of the locking ring.
