Multi-purpose enclosure esp. for medium voltage range contactors, switches etc., each individual appliance having a separate compartment which can accommodate various forms of spark suppression. The enclosure is entirely demountable and allows rapid access to individual compartments without disturbance to the remainder. The enclosure consists essentially of a pair of separate cylindrical chambers mounted on a common chassis, each chamber housing a mechanical lever system operating individual switches within further gas filled chambers bolted onto the lever compartments. An electrical connection between the switch operating rods acts as the primary of a transformer set in the wall separating the lever compartments.
