The electrical camouflage system uses an inclined board to absorb and reflect the radar beam from airport surface detection equipment and thereby prevents stationary objects on the ground from cluttering the radar picture of aircraft movements etc. on the ground. The board consists of an insulating backing coated with several layers of electromagnetic-wave absorbant paint. The paint is a graphite colloid and when dry is highly polished. The backing may be wood or a fibrous cement. The angle of inclination of the board is chosen so that incident waves are reflected vertically upwards. The advantage lies in weather resistance.
