<p>The sytem locates the transverse intercondylian mandibular axis of rotation, arcs of circules being traced on a support applied to the patient's temporal regions round a point in a presumed position. The arcs are traced on a removable surface by means of an apparatus secured in the mouth, so that this apparatus moves with the lower jaw. The surface is removed and a transparent plate is placed on it, having a large number of concentric circles. The arcs are brought into positions coinciding with at least one of the circles in the plate, and the centre of this circle is then marked on the surface. The latter is then replaced on the temporal region and a dot is made on the skin to show the position of the mandibular axis.</p> |
