<p>The tool is for gripping tough-shaped items having a base and two flanges. It has two shoes, which can be inserted in the trough when close together, and which are then spread apart by a mechanism so as to bear against the inner faces of the trough flanges. Where an internal bead is provided along the flange edges, the shoes may have shoulders of complementary shape to fit against them. Each shoe may also be of the same shape in the lengthwise direction as the item to be handled. In the lengthwise direction the shoes can be shaped in arcs of a circle means being provided for rotating them about their axis.</p> |
