<p>The charger is for batteries which are intermittently loaded, recharging being regulated such that the state of charge of the battery is maintained at an optimum level, preventing irreversible damage due to overcharging. The voltage across a current monitoring resistor common to both the load and charge circuits feeds and integrator which in turn operates a binary counter. The integrator output apears on one of two lines dependant on the resistor voltage polarity. Integrator output pulses are generated when preset quanta of charge are measured via the resistor, controlling the charger via a relay circuit such that the charge and discharge quanta are maintained equal.</p> |
