Tripod with divergent spikes at leg ends - has base with rollers for support of spikes held in place by latches

The tripod e.g. for cameras, has a base (6) having three star-like extensions at whose ends the legs of the tripod are supportable. Each leg of the tripod has two spikes (2, 3) extending downwards but at an angle to one another for use on the ground, i.e. when the base is not required. The base has at the end of each extension a flanged roller (5) fitting between the spikes of the adjacent leg of the tripod. A stirrup latch (8) is pivoted to the extension for retaining the leg in position on the roller. The base may be collapsible while connected to the tripod.
