Laminates are produced from fibrous material and thermosetting resin. Aq. dispersion of powdered A-stage resin is added, in the presence of surfactant dispersing agent, to an inorganic and/or natural or synthetic fibre and sheets of single or multiple layers are produced by a wet paper-making process. The sheets are dried on a paper machine until the resin reaches the B-stage, stacks are laid up of a set number of sheets, and these are hot pressed. Copper-clad laminates can be obtd. Resin is e.g. epoxide, phenolic or polyester. Pollution from solvent evaporation or from solvent recovery is obviated and the cheap process gives good impregnation of the fibres.
|
