<p>The folded air bag is positioned across the bonnet under the windscreen and is inflated by collision sensors (4) in the front bumpers. The air bag is positioned so that it protects the head of any pedestrian thrown onto the bonnet in an accident. The area of bonnet below the windscreen, and the bottom edge of the windscreen are a major source of injury in pedestrian accidents. The system can be fitted as an additional protection for the existing pedestrian protection which holds him on the bonnet and prevents him from being thrown back onto the road.</p> |
