HV two pole phase tester - uses optical information path for electric isolation of probe contacts with low inertia transducers at electrode ends

A two pole h.v. phase tester is for plant with operating alternating voltages between 1 and 380 kilovolts. It has two measurement rods with contacts. It replaces the conducting measurement probe connections with a non-conducting information carrier for isolation purposes. The measurement rods are connected by a conductor and one contains a display unit. In each rod, at the electrode end, is a low inertia voltage-to-light converter with one input connected to the electrode and another to a capacitive ground screen. A light-to-voltage converter is connected to the voltage-to-light converter via an electrically isolating light conducting path.
