PURPOSE:To uniformly machine the whole surface of a disc by a method wherein a pressurizing roller is mounted to an inclining block effecting arcuate movement along the guide part of a fixed block having an arcuate guide surface, and the guide part is formed in the shape of an arc of circle centering around the intermediate part in a radial direction of the disc and having a given radius. CONSTITUTION:When an inclining block 7 is brought into a state paralleling a disc 1 of a pressurizing roller 4, the contact surface of a polishing tape 3 with the disc 1 by means of the pressurizing roller 4 is formed in the shape of a strip. But, when the contact surface on the outer peripheral side of the pressurizing roller 4 is inclined so as to be pointed to the disc 1, the press force of the pressurizing roller 4 against the disc 1 is increased on the outer peripheral side and the polishing tape 3 is brought into contact with the disc 1 in a state to be formed approximately in the shape of a en. The contact area of the polishing tape 3 is linearly increased from the inner peripheral side toward the outer peripheral side. This constitution uniformizes the contact area of the polishing tape 3 with the disc 1 throughout a range of from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side through regulation of the inclination angle of the inclining block 7. |
