Non-corrugating drawing paper - coated with layer of pigment having low water absorption and bonded by plastic binder

Non-corrugating drawing paper consists of a paper carrier, directly coated with a painting surface. Painting surface consisting of a plastic-bonded pigment layer. Pigments have low water-absorption. Plastic binders yield coatings resistant to water and moisture, wetted well by water-colours. Pref. pigments are metal stearates of polyvalent metals, talcum products, finely dispersed silicas, pre-treated kaolins, or fine powders of PVC and polyethylene. Binders may be homo- or copolymers of vinyl- or vinylidene chloride, polystyrene, styrene-butadiene copolymers or poly(meth)acrylates. Pigment addn. (i) promotes wettability of plastic layer; (ii) forms a mat coating; (iii) reduces corrugation of plastic layer; (iv) increases whiteness of material.
