Adjustable aerofoil for vehicle rear window - has sprung arm mounting and with ratchet holds for variable setting

The rear window is fitted with an aerofoil (1) to deflect an airstream over the window and prevent build up of dirt. The aerofoil is mounted on sprung legs (10) and is secured in the optimum setting by a ratchet (16), so that the amount of air scooped over the rear window can be adjusted. When not required, at high speed, the aerofoil can be swung down below the roof line. The legs are set in a non parallel setting so that when the aerofoil is tilted down it assumes a more horizontal pose. The amount of tilting is limited by stops and the whole assembly is mounted on elastic pads for vibration damping.
