<p>The planing tool comprises a steel body in the form of a roll. On each side of a diameter is a wedge shaped slot, cut along the length. The cutter blade is sharpened both ends and held in the slot by means of a backing strip and a wedge shaped block. This is tightened by a screw, its head contacting the other side of the slot. The blade has packers underneath it, these being thinner to ensure correct tightening by the screw. The holding permits a narrower blade to be used, reducing the portion held and economising on material.</p> |
