<p>The venting ducts for the ship are capped with high speed heads which have angled covers so that the vertically moving airstream is deflected by only a shallow angle of less than 45 deg. as opposed to 90 deg. in conventional ventilators. The flap can be hinged or can be a vertically moving cone (16), both operated by servo motors or rams. Splash guards inside the ventilator duct prevent ingress of water. The high speed ventilator reduces the number of ventilator outlets on the deck. The outgoing airflow is fast enough to blow out any spray, and with the flap hinged at the bows end of the duct, the duct is protected from waves. The system is suitable for venting large volume vessel such as roll-on, roll-off ships in which the lorries can generate large amounts of fumes.</p> |
