The thermal consumption meter determines the quantity of heat used from the rate of flow of the heating medium and the temp. difference between the inflowing and outflowing medium. The result is set in a storage unit or recording device, electronically controlled by an internal current supply. The supply is independent of the electrical power distribution network and requiring no additional current supply. The meter is compactly constructed and contains measurement and power supply devices in a single unit and unaffected by outside influences. It is inserted in the supply and return pipes of an installation usig flange connectors. The electronic circuitry devices its power supply from the energy of the medium concerned using a rotary generator attached to the flow rate measurement wheel.
