Sealant incorporating gas and vapour adsorbent - in which the binding material is a silicone elastomer

The sealant incorporates 1-80% of adsorbent, which may be silica gel, calcium chloride, molecular sieve or similar material depending on the gas to be taken up. The silicone rubber, may be a hot or cold-cured elastomer, an air-cured product or a two-component system. Used as sealant where removal of gas or water is required, for instance in multilayer glass windows. It is readily formable and curable has low cost, high efficiency of adsorption, the latter allowing thinner layers and more compact construction to be adopted.
