Catalytically ignited gas lighter - with drawable platinum catalyst which ensures ignition of fuel gas mixed with alcohol

The catalytic lighter operates with a hydrocarbon as fuel gas mixed with ethanol or methanol in amounts of 5-20%. Platinum group metal is coated on a porous aluminium oxide, the Pt amounting to 5% in wt. with respect to the total weight of the carrier and the catalyst. The withdrawal of the igniter from the flame is controlled by a bi-metal strip. The container (2) is filled with a butane-propane mixture which evaporates at room temperature, and 5-10% of etanol or methanol is added to it. Opening of the sealing cover (4) and valve (12) with lever (5) results in partial evaporation of the fluid in the container (2). The vapour escapes through adjustable throttle (6) and nozle (7) towards the igniter (8), the latter withdrawn by entrainer (9) with further movement of the lever.
