<p>Extn. of kerogen from bituminous sedimentary rock, esp. oil and alum shales, comprises breaking up and comminuting in >=1 stage, assisted by a leaching treatment before final milling. The kerogen is then sepd. by an emulsification flotation or gravity process, using in the gravity process a nonpolar fluid of density higher than that of kerogen. Energy required for milling from under 3mm to below 15 mu particle size (around 100-120 kWh/t) is reduced by at least half. Other materials present, e.g. U, V, Al and phosphates can be recovered from the leaching fluid.</p> |
