A tank (10) possesses a feed pipe (14, 15, 16) which penetrates into the latter and the end of which is vertically adjustable. A flow-off pipe (6, 8, 13) likewise penetrates into the tank, its end being held fixedly. A float arrangement (17, 18, 19) serves for controlling a feed pump (23). The flow-off pipe, together with the fresh-water supply pipe (6), forms a jet pump for a washing drum (1). By means of the above-defined apparatus, liquid treatment agents can be fed in an exactly and uniformly metered manner to the treatment liquid required for the working process, before the latter is allowed to flow into the treatment appliance, especially an industrial drum-type washing or dyeing machine. A treatment appliance provided with this metering apparatus needs no special inlet for liquid treatment agents. <IMAGE>
