1487651 Motor-driven compressors LENNOX INDUSTRIES Inc 17 Jan 1975 [24 Jan 1974] 2179/75 Heading FIN [Also in Divisions H1 and H2] A refrigerant compressor 10 comprises a compression mechanism 22 supported by springs 20 within an outer casing 11 and driven by an induction motor 32, whose windings 36 are controlled by a control assembly 72 housed in a control box 62, the assembly 72 being formed by interconnected contactors and relays, Figs. 2, 6 and 7 (not shown), whereby the motor windings 36 are switched between high and low speed connections, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) and connected to their three phase A.C. power supply after the high or low speed connection has been effected, there being electrical and mechanical interlocks in the assembly 72 to prevent simultaneous operation of the motor to the high and low speed conditions. A valve assembly 40 controls a plurality of pistons (e.g.28) reciprocating in cylinders (e.g. 26) in compressor block 24 and protection against low temperature in casing 11, high and low gas-pressure and high discharge gas temperature is provided by sensors 50, 82, 90 and 100. Further sensors detect the temperature of the motor windings and control a circuit to switch the motor off when excess temperature occurs, this protection system forming the subject of Specification 1487652.
|
