1522886 Automatic control MOLINS MACHINE CO Inc 21 Oct 1976 [24 Feb 1976] 43734/76 Heading G3N An automatic control system for operatively associated motors comprises a digital arrangement whereby a first motor is brought up to a preselected minimum speed and varied between first and second speeds which are not less than the preselected speed. As shown, a corrugator has a double facer machine driven by a control system 20' and a single facer machine driven by a servo-loop 18-22, 38, 41 forming part of a control system 20. Commands from an operators panel 26 are logic processed by a control 28 and a pre-selected minimum speed fed to a counter 32 by pulses from a generator 30. A data selector 42 routes a thumbwheel set reference 40, or one of two pre-set references to a comparator for comparison with the contents of counter 32. The output of the comparator 44 through control 28 and generator 30 brings the contents of the counter 32 to the reference. A D/A converter 36, connected to the counter 32, acts as a ramp generator providing a changing value to the comparator 18 of the servoloop. The pre-set reference speed may correspond to the speed at which the single facer motor is to be driven during a splicing operation. An LED display 48 indicates a reference speed held in a temporary storage circuit 34. |
