<p>1488445 Extrusion; rolling WANSKUCK CO 24 March 1975 [29 March 1974] 12084/75 Headings B3P and B3M A continuous extrusion apparatus comprises a pair of opposed surfaces to grip a feedstock F on opposed faces, a further pair of opposed surfaces which are lubricated so as not to grip the feedstock and an extrusion orifice at the end of the passageway defined by the surfaces through which the feedstock is extruded by relative movement of the surfaces. The gripping surfaces may be provided by opposed blocks 10<SP>1</SP>, 12<SP>1</SP> between which a fork member 18 is advanced. The inner surfaces 24, 26 of the fork member are lubricated through ports 21, 23. In an alternative embodiment the fork member is fixed, Figs. 3-5 (not shown), and the feedstock is advanced by opposed rollers (30), (31). In further embodiments, Figs. 7 and 9, the feedstock is advanced by conveyer belts 70, 72 and 84, 86 respectively. The belts 70, 72 are guided to compress the feedstock by guide blocks 78. The feedstock upsets upstream of the extrusion die 28, Fig. 2, over a length l dependent on the width w of the passageway defined by the opposed surfaces.</p> |
