<p>Multi-component mixt. sepd. by distn. contains AcOEt, EtOH, acetone, toluene and water. Pref. wt. ratio water : organic phase is 1.6 : 1 to 4 : 1 and organic phase contains by wt., 55-90% AcOEt, 9-34% EtOH, 0-6% acetone and 0-6% toluene. Initial mixt. is decomposed in a separator into an organic and an aq. phase. Both phases are rectified separately in 2 columns. The azetropic mixts. AcOEt-EtOH-H2O and AcOEt-H2O are distilled as head prod. of the 2 columns. In the distn. of the organic phase, EtOH and H2O are allowed to pass completely into the azeotropic mixts. and part of AcOEt and toluene are retained in sump. In the distn. of the aq. phase, AcOEt is allowed to pass into the azeotropic mixts. and the predominating quantity of EtOH and water is retained in sump. The distillates of both columns are returned to separator via a mixer. Temp. in separator is kept at 20-45 degrees C. Process is used partic. for recovering organic materials from packaging printing plant. The recovered components are pure.</p> |
