<p>A method and composition for combatting the greasy and unaesthetic appearance of the hair and to improve the appearance of the skin comprises in a carrier at least one active component of the formula R1 R-S-CH2-CH-CH2-N ANGLE ¦ OHR2 wherein R1 and R2 are methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl or beta -hydroxyethyl, or R1 and R2 taken together form -(CH2)2-(CH2)2-, -(CH2)2-CH2-(CH2)2-, -(CH2)2-O-(CH2)2-, -(CH2)2-N-(CH2)2-, ¦ CH3 or -(CH2)2-N-(CH2)2-; ¦ C6H5 ; and R is (1) linear or branched alkyl having 1-18 carbon atoms, (ii) alkenyl having 3-18 carbon atoms, (iii) alkyl having 2-3 carbon atoms and substituted by 1-2 alcohol functions, (iv) -(CH2)m-CH(OR3)2 wherein R3 is alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms and m is 1-2, (v) -(CH2)nR4 wherein n is 0, 1 or 2 and R4 is 2 -pyridyl or phenyl, (vi) -(CH2)qR'4 wherein q is 0 or 1 and R'4 is 1-naphthyl, 2-naphthyl WHEREIN P IS 1, 2 OR 3 IN WHICH INSTANCE R5 is F, Cl, Br, alkoxy having 1-5 carbon atoms or alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, or wherein p is 1 in which instance R5 is amino, dimethylamino and methylenedioxy, (vii) -CH(C6H5)2, (viii) -C(C6H5)3, (ix) -CH(C6H4p-OCH3)2, (x) -CH2-CH-NH2, ¦ COOH (xi) -CH2-CH2-NH-Y wherein Y is hydrogen, nicotinyl or COR9 wherein R9 is hydrogen, alkyl having 1-18 carbon atoms, alkenyl having 2-18 carbon atoms WHEREIN R11 is H, F, Cl, Br or alkoxy having 1-4 carbon atoms, (xii) -CH-COOH ¦ CH2-COOH, and (xiii) -(CH2)s-COOH wherein s is 1-10.</p> |
