<p>The tap for domestic water supply uses a rotating assymetric sleeve (5) as an obturator. The sleeve has one end (5) closed and is of uniform bore with slender elastic walls. The open sleeve end (6) is cut in such a way that by rotating the sleeve, an opening (4) in the tap casing (1) is alternatively covered or uncovered by the sleeve wall. The sleeve obturator may be mounted in a cylindrical casing (1) with the closed end (5) uppermost and the open end (6) facing the supply feed. The open end (6) may be fashioned by cutting the sleeve at say an angle of 70 deg. to the longitudinal axis, and the tap outlet (4) locates in the casing wall. The top of the sleeve (5) may be spring dowelled into a sealed (7) casing cap (8) which serves as the control knob.</p> |
