An articulated cage for ball bearings comprises a number of cage-forming members 1, Fig. 1, (not shown) each of which has a transverse portion 2 with one side thereof having an abutment 8 in engagement with a ball 10 and another side thereof having spaced-apart abutments 12, 13 in engagement with an adjoining ball 10, the cage thus providing a three-point bearing contact for each ball 10. The member 1 is provided with interlocking recesses 3 and projections 4, sloping surfaces 6, 7 being formed in front of the recesses 3 and projections 4 respectively to facilitate the bending-open of arms 5 of the member 1 when the members 1 are being connected together. In an articulated cage for roller bearings, the cage-forming members 1, Fig. 4 (not shown) each has a transverse portion 2 with one side thereof having an abutment 16 in engagement with a roller 15 and another side thereof having spaced-apart projections 17, 18 in engagement with an adjoining roller 15. In a modification, cage-forming members 19, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown) have T-shape grooves 21 formed therein which receive projections 22 of an interlocking member 19. |
