<p>The skeletal support structure is built up from straight members of standard uniform circular or prismatic section which all radiate from a common node joint. One edge or generatrices of each member passes through a common point, i.e. the centroid of the structure. Each member is notched to house over the preceding member, and all members radiate aobut an axis through the centeroid. A typical structure may comprise a table top support, and has five legs (1-5) or square section disposed about a a vertical axis (6). One edge (7) of each member passes through the centroid (C) which lies on the vertical axis (6). When viewed in plan the leg ends describe a circle to form table top support surfaces (T) and feet (B) at the top and bottom resp. The circled centre on the vertical axis (6). The member notches (N) are cut to appropriate geometry, and the member ends (T,B) are cut obliquely to lie in the relevant horizontal plane.</p> |
